God?

Life is a little like a jigsaw puzzle.

We work hard at trying to fit all the pieces of our life together: Family, friends, job, finances, hobbies, spirituality and leisure.

Sometimes, we try to fit the wrong pieces into the wrong places or the puzzle has empty spaces because of pieces we fail to include. Empty spaces and misplaced pieces invariably lead to an unfulfilled and incomplete life.

What is the answer?

There are two parts to the answer.

Part 1: The most important piece

There is a special place in the very center of our lives. This piece is the most important part of the puzzle of life.

Unfortunately, many people fail to recognize this missing piece or completely deny that this piece is needed. Eventually, they try to fill this space with lots of other pieces like entertainment, career, relationships, sports, sex or drugs but there is only one piece that really fits: God, more specifically, Jesus Christ.

Even a religious activity or spiritual experience won't fit unless that activity or experience leads you to a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the "piece" that brings true "peace".

How do I find that "piece"?

First, realize that God wants to have a relationship with you.

I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. John 10:10b

Second, recognize your need for forgiveness.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Third, realize that Jesus died for you.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Fourth, receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9, 10

Part 2: The big picture

When constructing a jigsaw puzzle, it helps to view the picture on the box. Having a complete picture helps to reconstruct the incomplete pieces of that same picture. Sometimes we try to construct our lives without looking at a picture of what a complete, fulfilled life looks like.

Thankfully, God has the ability to see the whole picture of our lives before it unfolds. If God has that ability wouldn't it make sense that he would give us insight into the "big picture"? He has, it's called the Bible and it is a reference to constructing a complete, fulfilled life.
